Summer Popcorn Night
August 6 is the date for the last “Summer Popcorn Night.” The featured DVD will be “The DaVinci Code.” Now is your chance to join fellow members of UUCOV to view (and discuss?) this exciting film.
“The DaVinci Code” brings alive Dan Brown’s international bestseller in this film directed by Ron Howard. Join symbologist Robert Langdon (Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks) and cryptologist Sophie Neven (Audrey Tautou) in their heart-racing quest to solve a bizarre murder mystery that will take them from France to England – and behind the veil of a mysterious ancient society, where they discover a secret protected since the time of Christ. With first-rate performances by Sir Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina and Jean Reno, critics called this movie “involving,” “intriguing,” “a first rate thriller.”
You will enjoy this one! Be sure to bring your own drink; popcorn is free. See you in the Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. on August 6.
Monthly Work Day
The usual First Thursday Work Days fall on August 7th and September 4th. There are useful projects available for those willing to put in a couple of hours to keep our sanctuary and grounds in good condition. Work gets underway at 8 a.m. All skill levels welcome. Please let Kenny Waters know in advance for planning purposes.
No one should believe that all of the projects necessary to maintain and improve our facilities can be done in one day each month. Kenny, Greg, John, and others volunteer hours each month. So if you have a couple of hours to contribute but cannot come on Thursday, let Kenny know. Together you can pick a project suitable for your time and interests.
Next Forum will be October 5

Southwest Cluster Meeting Coming November 8th
Put November 8th on your calendar! This is the second Saturday in November and the day that UUCOV will host the Fall Southwest Cluster Meeting. Coming to UUCOV will be representatives from UU churches in Naples, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, Sarasota and Bradenton. Your attendance will be important! The “commute” will be short and the day will offer an opportunity to meet with other UU members and thus broaden your network.
Details about the program to be offered will be forthcoming. The important thing to do now is put the date on your calendar. Later you will hear about volunteer opportunities to show others what an exciting, vibrant community we have at UUCOV. We will need plenty of help to make this day a positive experience for all who attend! More on that later.
