Venice Performing Arts
An invitation from our music director, Deborah Berioli

Our 2008-2009 Celebrations season begins on July 5 in celebration of Independence Day. It’s true that many of you live here year-round, and it is with you in mind that we are hosting our first summer concert, “American Songbook” an All-American program with original arrangements of American ballads and patriotic songs by critically acclaimed composer and pianist Martin Hennessy.

By chance, the majority of concerts this year fell on or around major holidays: July 4th, Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. This allows many opportunities to program exciting and very relevant concerts with song selections to really enhance each holiday. Let’s celebrate each season together in song!

Student Spotlight
I’m also excited to announce the Student Spotlight portion of the series. What better way is there to encourage young artists than to offer them a performance platform? Through auditions, young singers or pianists will have the opportunity to perform in a ten minute segment directly preceding the evening’s concert, from 6:45 to 6:55 beginning on July 5th. Please plan on arriving a little earlier to hear our outstanding young artists.
